Wonderments 80

We had a quiet rain this morning and one of the plants in front of the house has pretty little pink flowers when it blooms. I have no idea what the plant is called, but I thought the water droplets looked striking.

The fig tree has simply been blooming up a storm, though during the summer I've had to water it every day or near as to that as makes no difference. It consumes water like mad, but K.C. indicated it was likely the air conditioner's fault. Regardless, lots of water. Here's the link to what the tree originally looked like before I started caring for it. I think it's come quite a ways.

Here's the drawing Michael did of the dragon from his book the other day when Jenn and Michael were at B&N's Midnight Magic Harry Potter party. I think he did an amazing job considering he's 12.

Week 11, Tree - 58

4 days ago on a whim, I took pictures of this little tree sitting on our kitchen table. I'm not really a plant person. I forget to water them. They tend to die because I overwater them. You get the picture? Well this little tree at one time was, I'm sorry to say, only watered when K.C. would come home from work. He works a few states away and came home once every 3 weeks or so. Okay, so not good. Yet the tree has survived. It hasn't flourished, but it's survived. Jump to now and for some reason, I've been keeping track of the water in this little tree for the last week or so. If you compare the pictures from the 9th to the ones I'm posting today, you'll actually see a change, can you guess what it is? Yeah, in only 4 days! (I closed the shade for better contrast, but the lighting in here still makes it a little blurry.)

Still can't tell? There are little leaves! New shoots growing. They weren't there on the 9th, I checked in my pics. Isn't that spiffy? I'm rather happy that this little tree is still willing to flourish, even in hardship, to become more beautiful. There's a lesson in there somewhere, I just know there is. ;)

Week 10, Tree Bits - 56

My neighbor had two of the trees in his yard destroyed today... I took pictures of the destruction, but I liked this one the best. Up-close and personal with mutilated branches.

Week 10, Tree - 54

K.C. has this small tree that I gather he's had for ages. I believe he's called it a fig tree in the past. I wanted to show how nice and green the leaves have been recently.

That and the gratuitous Jacque shot ;)
